Foster Parents provide homes to children who need short term or long term stability. It is not only a parent commitment but a whole family commitment. To become a foster family in Ontario, individuals participate in an extensive screening process, introductory and ongoing training, and make a pledge to create safe homes for children as long as they are needed. Foster parenting is a vocation not a job. Theresa is excited to officiate the Foster Parent Entrustment Ceremony. This ceremony begins with the foster parent oath and is then followed by the Family support persons' oath. Agency Case Managers, friends and extended family members promise to help the foster family in times of need and support foster children as they are able. Everyone then makes a commitment to keep the best interests of children at the core of their foster parenting activities.
The foster parent is then provided with a certificate that they can keep to commemorate the ceremony.
