As a faithful Catholic, I love the sacraments! However, I have always struggled with the role of woman in my faith community. Please read Jimmy Carter's article on this topic as a representative of the Elders who are a group of wise worldwide citizens who were gathered by Nelson Mandela. The Elders are an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights. The Elders represent an independent voice, not bound by the interests of any nation, government or institution. We are committed to promoting the shared interests of humanity, and the universal human rights we all share. We believe that in any conflict, it is important to listen to everyone - no matter how unpalatable or unpopular this may be. We aim to act boldly, speaking difficult truths and tackling taboos. We don’t claim to have all the answers, and stress that every individual can make a difference and create positive change in their society. http://theelders.org/article/words-god-do-not-justify-cruelty-women
I also struggle with the way many faith communities address LGBTQ+2 issues and concerns... " Love the sinner but not the sin". This response separates people based on their identity or who they love. This for me is in conflict with International Human Rights legislation. So I feel that it is my role to walk along side others in their spiritual /faith journey and support them in their day to day lives by honoring their
LIFE STEPS. It is not my role nor right to challenge the beliefs of others, unless their belief will negatively impact their brother or sister. So I humbly promise to meet with you and help understand what the religious underpinning's of your Life Steps are to support you and your family in creating the ceremony you need and want.
